European Union–Indonesia Agree to Establish EU Desk, Here's the Purpose

The European Union (EU) Delegation to Indonesia and the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) have officially signed a Cooperation Statement to establish an EU Desk within the Ministry. According to EU Ambassador to Indonesia Denis Chaibi, the launch of the EU Desk represents a renewed commitment to deepen economic cooperation and boost bilateral investment flows. The EU Desk will provide market intelligence, guidance on business setup and licensing, business matchmaking, identification of new investment opportunities, and support on regulatory alignment.

Building on prior collaboration with BKPM to identify key sectors aligned with both EU and Indonesian policy priorities, the EU Desk will focus on future-oriented industries such as renewable energy, automotive, ICT, electronics, logistics, agriculture, and fisheries. Chaibi emphasized that the EU Desk is more than a facility—it’s a symbol of shared ambition to create impactful, sustainable, and high-quality investments under the EU’s Global Gateway strategy. Supported by the EU through the EU-Indonesia Cooperation Facility (EUICF), the EU Desk will be housed at the BKPM office and serve as a platform for dialogue between EU investors and regulators, business development support, and project identification—while also bridging connections with EU Member States’ financial institutions and private investors to help mobilize both public and private investment in Indonesia.
