Madiun City recorded impressive economic growth of 5.87% in Q1 2025, surpassing both East Java (5.00%) and the national rate (4.87%). The local branch of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) announced the figures during the official release of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) publication. Head of BPS Madiun, Abdul Aziz, emphasized the importance of quarterly GRDP data, which has been released regularly since 2024, allowing local authorities to quickly identify gaps and respond proactively.
The city’s GRDP reached IDR 4.89 trillion in current prices and IDR 3.24 trillion in constant prices. This growth was largely supported by well-controlled inflation—Madiun even experienced a 0.35% deflation in May 2025—thanks to the strong coordination by the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID). Mayor Maidi welcomed the results, underlining the role of timely government spending and public service delivery in supporting economic expansion. He has called on all departments to strictly adhere to APBD and APBN spending schedules to maintain growth momentum. Mayor Maidi also highlighted that high public satisfaction reflects strong governance and contributes to the city's economic health. He emphasized the need to make Madiun a desirable destination with high visitor satisfaction, believing this would fuel continued economic development. The GRDP release event was attended by key stakeholders including local government officials, BPS, and TPID representatives—demonstrating cross-agency commitment to sustaining Madiun’s economic progress.
