The South Kalimantan Provincial Trade Office (Disdag Kalsel) noted that the volume and value of natural rubber commodity exports increased in the period from March to April 2025 during the ongoing global trade war and tariff conditions. Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Trade Office, Sulkan in Banjarmasin, Wednesday, said that the volume of natural rubber exports reached 4,943 tons with a value of USD 9,856,865 in March 2025. "This figure then jumped sharply in April to more than 6,948 tons with a value reaching USD 14,016,184," said Sulkan. Sulkan acknowledged that the development of the value and volume of natural rubber exports in South Kalimantan experienced a significant increase in March-April 2025.
The increase in demand for rubber came from various export destination countries, such as Japan, China, Mexico, Germany, Canada, and India, which were the largest contributors from 17 destination countries. Furthermore, Sulkan said that the increase in natural rubber exports was influenced by increased demand from destination countries. Although natural rubber exports have increased, Sulkan said that the value and volume of exports of several other leading commodities have decreased, such as palm oil, wood, rattan, fisheries, and mining products. For example, coal mining products, although there was an increase in demand volume of 11,299,531 tons in March to 11,485,488 tons in April, the export value has decreased. "From USD 657,686,562 in March, the value of coal exports plummeted to USD 636,968,289 during April 2025," said Sulkan. According to Sulkan, the fluctuating conditions caused the total value of South Kalimantan's exports to decline to USD 765,035,535 in April, from around USD 800,186,179 in March 2025. Sulkan said this phenomenon shows that diversification of export products is very important and needs to maintain market stability amidst global economic uncertainty.
