Indonesian Plastic Product Transactions Reach IDR 24 Billion at Taiwan Exhibition

Indonesian plastic products recorded transactions of USD 1.52 million or equivalent to IDR 24.7 billion in three days of the Plastics, Rubber & Composite Material Fair (PMT) Taiwan exhibition. Head of the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office (KDEI) Taipei in Taiwan, Arif Sulistiyo said that these results show an increase in Indonesia's competitiveness and strategic position in the global plastic industry supply chain. One of the leading domestic plastic products, namely biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), the main raw material in the flexible packaging industry, recorded real transactions of USD 840 thousand or around IDR 14 billion during the exhibition. Meanwhile, polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recorded potential transactions of USD 682 thousand, equivalent to IDR 10 billion. "This achievement reflects that Indonesian plastic products are not only competitive in terms of quality, but are also able to meet increasingly high global industry standards, especially in the manufacturing and packaging sectors," said Arif in an official statement, Tuesday (10/6). This exhibition provides an opportunity for Indonesian-made plastic products to be better known both in Taiwan and internationally.

PMT 2025 is the largest and only exhibition in Taiwan that specifically presents plastic, rubber, and composite material commodities to the global scene. The exhibition in 2025 was attended by around 250 participants and was able to attract more than 9,000 visitors from 40 countries. Throughout January to April 2025, total trade between Indonesia and Taiwan reached USD3.20 billion. Indonesia's exports to Taiwan during that period were recorded at USD 1.86 billion, while Indonesia's imports from Taiwan were worth USD 1.34 billion. Meanwhile, in 2024, total trade between the two parties reached USD 10.62 billion. Indonesia's exports to Taiwan reached USD 6.68 billion and Indonesia's imports from Taiwan amounted to USD 3.94 billion. Thus, Indonesia's trade surplus with Taiwan amounted to USD 2.75 billion.
