The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) fully supports the strategic collaboration between PT CT Advance Technology and Tubacex Group for the development of the steel industry.
The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held today in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/6/2025). The Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) Industry, Setia Diarta in his remarks expressed his optimism towards this partnership, which is considered to provide a real contribution to strengthening the national steel industry, especially in supporting the oil and gas sector. He revealed that the Indonesian economy in 2025 showed a positive trend, especially in the basic metal industry sector which recorded an annual growth of 14.47%, far surpassing other non-oil and gas manufacturing sectors which grew by 4.31%.
In addition to industrial growth, investment in the basic metal sector also showed a significant spike. More than IDR 67 trillion or around USD 4 billion has flowed into this sector, indicating high interest from global industry players. "In 2024, Indonesia will produce 17 million tons of crude steel and rank us 14th in the world," he explained. Currently, he said, Indonesia has 14 domestic OCTG producers, but only around 40% of the capacity is utilized. This is a great opportunity to increase utilization and meet national needs more optimally. According to him, the collaboration between PT CT Advance Technology and Tubacex Group will focus on the production of high-quality stainless steel materials, such as Austenitic, Duplex, Super Duplex, and 6Mo. These products are greatly needed to support national strategic projects such as BP Tangguh UCC and Kutei North Hub. With an investment value of IDR 100 billion and the creation of 50 new jobs, PT CT Advance Technology will process semi-finished products from Tubacex Group at its production facility in Cilegon. This partnership is estimated to be able to meet the needs of up to 10,000 tons of duplex material per year, especially for production sharing contract (PSC) contractors.
