Since 2025, the Fisheries Product Processing Center (UPT), under the Bantul Regency Marine and Fisheries Department in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province, has been exporting canned fish products to the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, and Australia, alongside selling them domestically. The canned fish products are made from marine fish such as mackerel, milkfish, threadfin, and other marine fish caught by fishermen from Depok Beach, Bantul. The facility's daily production capacity for fish processing is approximately 1,000 cans, with each can weighing 250 grams. The export price for these products ranges from IDR 60,000 to IDR 70,000, variable based on the type of fish. Exports of canned fish products are only initiated after obtaining the necessary permits from food certification bodies, ensuring that the products meet international standards of quality and competitiveness. Currently, the UPT has obtained 70 certifications, including halal certification and food safety certification. By 2024, demand is projected to reach 300–400 cans per day. As the market demands grow, the UPT is planning to add machinery to meet these needs by 2026.
