Bringing 27 Business Actors, Deputy Minister of Trade Roro Leads Strategic Steps to Penetrate the Japanese Market

The Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) is holding a large-scale trade mission to Japan on June 9-13rd, 2025, led directly by Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri. This agenda targets the renewable energy sector, environmentally friendly building materials, home decoration, fashion, accessories, and food and beverages. This trade mission will also involve the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, trade associations, and business actors from various sectors. "We want to strengthen the penetration of the Japanese market and build a stronger business network between Indonesian and Japanese business actors. It is hoped that this mission can encourage an increase in Indonesian exports," said Deputy Minister of Trade Roro in Jakarta.

This activity was held with the full support of the Indonesian Consulate General in Osaka, Japan, the Indonesian Trade Attaché in Tokyo, and ITPC Osaka, and will present 27 Indonesian business actors in a series of business forums and one-on-one business matching with prospective Japanese buyers. During this visit, Roro is also scheduled to hold important bilateral meetings, including with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan, the ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI). And she will also visit the head office of Daikin Industries Ltd. The Director General of National Export Development (PEN) of the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, said that the Indonesia-Japan trade relationship has great potential. "Japan is the fourth largest trading partner for Indonesia. The bilateral trade trend over the past five years has grown positively by 10.32%. Meanwhile, Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports to Japan grew by 8.80% in the same period," said Fajarini. This strategic step strengthens Indonesia's domestic products to be more competitive in the global market—especially Japan, which is known for being selective and high-quality.
