Amid global economic uncertainty and geopolitical disruptions, Indonesia is actively seeking new strategic partnerships. Deputy Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Body (BKSAP) of the House of Representatives, Bramantyo Suwondo, highlighted the growing importance of strengthening economic ties with European nations, particularly Italy. He noted that the shifting global economic policies, especially from major powers like the United States, push Indonesia to explore innovative collaborations. Italy, with its strong capabilities in manufacturing and technology, is seen as a timely and relevant partner to support Indonesia’s expanding creative industries and missionary business ecosystem.
Bramantyo expressed optimism that this partnership could yield concrete benefits, such as increased bilateral investment and the transfer of technology and industrial know-how. The establishment of the Indonesia–Italy Bilateral Cooperation Group (GKSB) reflects the Parliament's proactive role in fostering strategic diplomacy through inter-legislative channels. Bramantyo emphasized that this form of parliamentary diplomacy is key to bridging national interests based on mutual respect and equality, ultimately contributing to sustainable and mutually beneficial international cooperation.
