Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto revealed the response of the representative of the United States Trade Office, Jamieson Greer, to Indonesia's negotiation documents on Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs. "Ambassador Greer appreciates Indonesia's proposal as a good basis for consideration for America," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto in an online press conference from Paris on Wednesday evening, June 4th, 2025. Airlangga said he met with Greer at the 2025 ministerial meeting of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Council which took place in Paris, France. Airlangga stated that negotiations on US tariffs were one of the discussions on the agenda. Indonesia will soon hold a second round of negotiations on US trade tariffs. The government will send an Indonesian delegation team next week as negotiators. "The Indonesian delegation will send a team to Washington to conduct the next round of negotiations," said Airlangga. He said the Indonesian government always prioritizes social interests and makes concrete efforts. "With the completion of these negotiations, Indonesia becomes one of the 18 countries whose documents are estimated to be more advanced," said Airlangga. He hopes that the documents and negotiations will produce optimal results for Indonesian trade in the global market, including the United States.
Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso said that reciprocal tariff negotiations had begun virtually by the technical teams of Indonesia and the United States. The negotiations are targeted to be completed in 60 days or at the latest 90 days. The latest deadline for the postponement is 90 days from April 9th, which means July 8th, 2025," he said when met at his office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 7th, 2025. According to Susiwijono, the US team or USTR is very open to discussion with Indonesia.
