On 3 June 2025, Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso launched the export of 350,000 tonnes of L-Tryptophan products from PT Cheil Jedang Indonesia (CJI) in Pasuruan to China, with a production value of IDR 35 trillion. The export launch was conducted in a symbolic manner with the departure of export containers, accompanied by Acting Governor of East Java Emil Dardak, Member of the House of Representatives from the PAN Party Fraction Syaiful Huda, and Pasuruan Regent Rusdi Sutejo, along with PT CJI Vice President Oh Jae Woo. Exports of PT CJI Pasuruan's production are predominantly directed towards the Chinese market, accounting for 98% of total exports.
L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that plays a crucial role in cell growth and nutritional balance in animals. Classified as both feed and food additives, these products contribute to enhancing the quality of livestock products and ensuring their well-being. The Director of Administration at PT CJI Pasuruan, Imam Nachrowi, has stated that research from Australia indicates that L-Tryptophan can make animals calmer and even comfortable in solitude. Furthermore, the Minister of Trade acknowledged the substantial contribution of PT CJI Pasuruan in supporting national exports, particularly in the context of global challenges such as trade wars and economic pressures. PT CJI's contribution is crucial to achieving the national export target of 7.1% by 2025.
