The government remains committed to the target of accession to become a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development or OECD for 3 years, starting from 2024, after submitting the initial memorandum document. Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso said that Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto had submitted the self-assessment document to OECD Secretary General Mathias Cormann on Monday (2/6/2025). Although still according to the initial plan, Susi said that its implementation would depend on the review process that the OECD carried out on the document. Susi explained that after submitting the IM document, the OECD, through its technical committees, would study the self-assessment document on the alignment of Indonesian regulations, policies, and practices compared to the OECD instruments. Then the OECD will conduct a series of discussions, validations, questionnaire preparation, and field visits with each of their partner ministries/institutions. For example, Susi said, the OECD Statistics Committee will partner with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Fiscal Relations Committee with the Ministry of Finance, and various other members of the OECD National Team.
Susi emphasized that the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance as the OECD National Team Implementation Team will continue to oversee this process. For your information, IM is a key document in the accession process which contains an independent assessment of the alignment of national regulations, standards, and practices with OECD norms and standards. Based on the Accession Roadmap received, Indonesia's IM consists of 32 chapters covering 240 OECD legal instruments. The preparation of the IM involves 64 Ministries/Institutions that are included in 26 Sectors and 8 cross-sector areas, as regulated in Presidential Decree No. 17/2024 and Decree of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs No. 232/2024.
