Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the Indonesian and French delegations signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth USD 11 billion. The figure is equivalent to IDR 179.25 trillion (exchange rate of IDR 16,295 per US dollar). The value comes from 27 MoUs signed when French President Emmanuel Macron visited Indonesia this week. He stated that the remaining 11 MoUs were signed Wednesday afternoon at the Indonesia-France Business Forum 2025 which was attended by 368 delegates from both countries. He said that the signing of various cooperation initiatives was the realization of the hopes of the leaders of the two countries to strengthen relations between Indonesia and France. Airlangga stated that the collaboration built included cooperation between governments (government-to-government/G2G), between business actors (business-to-business/B2B), and between community groups (people-to-people). "This will make the relations between Indonesia and France very strong and this cooperation also marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France," he said. He said that Indonesia and France have many similarities, including philosophy and responses to global geopolitical and geoeconomic conditions.
Airlangga also invited the delegates of the Indonesia-France Business Forum 2025 to provide real results from the cooperation that has been built as desired by the leaders of the two countries. "And we want to open up more opportunities related to trade and investment between the two countries," he added. Emmanuel Macron and his delegation to Jakarta on May 27-29th, 2025. This is a series of foreign visits by the French President in the Southeast Asia region, namely Vietnam, Indonesia, and Singapore. In Indonesia, Macron met with President Prabowo Subianto. In the meeting, Indonesia and France agreed on 21 cooperations in various fields, both military and defense, to free nutritious meal programs carried out between governments, between institutions, and private partnerships.
