Indonesia is aiming to boost exports of key agricultural products such as durian, swiftlet nests, and chicken feet directly to China. During the Indonesia-China Business Reception 2025, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono highlighted that while Indonesia currently exports most of its durian through Thailand, the country seeks to establish direct durian exports to China. In addition, Indonesia, the world’s largest producer of swiftlet nests with an 80% global market share, plans to expand exports of this commodity to China. The government is also focusing on increasing poultry exports, especially chicken feet, which are in high demand in the Chinese market.
As part of the bilateral cooperation, China intends to invest in Indonesia’s dairy processing and dairy cattle farming industries. Although the exact investment value remains undisclosed, officials expect significant contributions, especially with plans to import live cattle to boost local production. Indonesia aims to achieve self-sufficiency in dairy and beef production over the next five years by importing two million breeding cattle to meet the growing domestic demand. This initiative is seen as crucial to strengthening national food security and reducing dependency on imports.
