The Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BPJPH RI) held a strategic meeting with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) on Friday, May 23. Accompanied by the Agricultural and Trade Attachés of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D.C. and representatives of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), BPJPH discussed practical steps to enhance bilateral cooperation on halal product trade—especially concerning the certification and standards for meat and processed meat products.
BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan emphasized that the collaboration reflects Indonesia’s commitment to building a trusted, transparent, and mutually beneficial global halal ecosystem. The Indonesian government is open to supporting U.S. businesses in aligning with both national and international halal standards. The Indonesian Embassy noted that facilitating halal trade strengthens bilateral economic ties and represents a form of sustainable halal diplomacy. USDA and USMEF expressed support for harmonizing global halal standards and expanding exports to the growing Indonesian halal market. The meeting is part of Indonesia’s broader initiative to position itself as a global hub for the halal industry.
