ISSEI 2025 Emphasizes Industry-Academia Synergy, Promotes Green Steel Innovation

The Iron-Steel Summit & Exhibition Indonesia (ISSEI) 2025 went beyond showcasing the latest steel technologies by emphasizing the crucial partnership between industry and academia for a greener, sustainable steel sector. Held at Jakarta International Convention Center over three days, it featured leading universities participating in panel discussions, steel building design competitions, and focused talks on energy transition and industrial efficiency. M. Akbar Djohan, Chairman of the Indonesian Iron & Steel Industry Association, highlighted that collaboration across sectors, especially with academic institutions, is key to achieving an eco-friendly steel industry roadmap aligned with Indonesia’s 2045 vision.

A highlight was the Grand Steel Building Competition, uniting students and professionals to present innovative low-emission steel construction designs, fostering dialogue between emerging talents and industry leaders. SEAISI’s Ronald Joel Magsajo praised youth involvement as vital for bridging theory and practice and advancing green technology adoption. Deputy Minister Faisol Riza called for stronger joint research and technology incubators linking universities with businesses. Universities also showcased energy-efficient research and waste reduction prototypes, signaling their growing role in industry transformation. As ISSEI 2025 concluded, participants are committed to sustaining this momentum through internships, applied research, and steel tech startups, aiming to build an industry that is both economically strong and environmentally smart.
