Asprindo Develops Global-Standard Fisheries Industry Village

The Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs Association (Asprindo) is launching Phase 2 of the Global Quality and Standards Programme (GQSP) Indonesia to establish a model Fisheries Industry Village in Paser, East Kalimantan. This initiative, supported by the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the National Standardization Agency (BSN), and funded by the Swiss government through SECO, aims to align Indonesia’s fisheries with international quality benchmarks by mid-2026.

Focusing on shrimp, milkfish, and seaweed, the program will offer extensive training and mentoring to local businesses across the value chain—from hatchery to cultivation and processing. Asprindo Chairman Jose Rizal emphasized the need for tailored guidance to meet global standards, with the ultimate goal of creating an integrated and fair business ecosystem. The initiative seeks to boost SME capacity, strengthen quality infrastructure, and raise awareness of global certification requirements. Jose hopes this model can be replicated nationwide in other sectors like agriculture and tourism, positioning Indonesian products to compete confidently on the global stage while empowering indigenous entrepreneurs and optimizing the country’s vast maritime potential.
