The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is promoting Indonesia's sustainable tuna products through the IPNLF's Vision for the Future forum at the Seafood Expo Global (SEG) 2025 held in Barcelona, Spain. The Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fisheries Products (Dirjen PDSPKP) KKP Tornanda Syaifullah said the SEG exhibition is the world's largest seafood event that presents thousands of participants from 91 countries and is a meeting place for producers and potential buyers of the world's fisheries industry. "IPNLF's part of the series of activities for the Seafood Expo Global 2025 held on May 6-8, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, aims to help promote and connect tuna producers, namely Indonesia as one of the largest tuna producing countries in the world with global buyers, potentially from several countries," said Tornanda in a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday. Indonesia is present at SEG 2025 by involving eight exporters who exhibit tuna, squid, and other processed fishery products independently at the international exhibition pavilion.
In the IPNLF's forum, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries also conveyed its commitment to sustainable marine development in line with the blue economy policy to ensure the sustainability of the marine ecosystem and the welfare of fishermen. He said that his party also held bilateral meetings with nine tuna importers from various countries to strengthen global interest in Indonesian fishery products that are considered to meet sustainability and traceability standards. The importers from the UK, the European Union, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates expressed high interest in buying Indonesian tuna caught in an environmentally friendly manner using the pole and line and handline methods. Furthermore, he said that the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries also held meetings with several Indonesian exporters, accompanied by ITPC Barcelona and Hamburg.
