US-France Giants Reinvest, SKK Migas: Indonesia Remains Attractive!

The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) revealed that Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas investment climate remains attractive, marked by the return of several major “Seven Sisters” companies that had previously exited the country. Global giants such as Shell, Chevron, and TotalEnergies, which withdrew from Indonesian upstream projects years ago, are now showing renewed interest. Hudi D. Suryodipuro, Head of Program and Communication at SKK Migas, said this renewed interest reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain an appealing investment environment.

SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto added that at least 25 companies, including these industry leaders, are eyeing Indonesian projects. Djoko emphasized that Indonesia’s significant oil and gas potential and improved data transparency make the country an attractive investment destination. SKK Migas is enhancing data availability and regulatory openness to facilitate investor evaluations. Flexible fiscal terms, supportive licensing policies, and openness to new technologies further boost Indonesia’s appeal, positioning the country for increased production and investment growth.
