The Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has strengthened bilateral cooperation with two U.S.-based halal institutions, Islamic Services of America (ISA) and the USA Halal Chamber of Commerce/ISWA Halal Certification Department. This collaboration was formalized with a letter of intent (LoI) signed by BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan and representatives from the U.S. institutions at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, D.C. The move aims to meet the growing demand in Indonesia for high-quality halal products while boosting Indonesia’s role in the global halal economy.
The LoI, titled “Robust Commitment in Implementation of Halal Quality Assurance,” reflects a shared commitment to transparent, accountable, and trustworthy halal product assurance. The partnership focuses on facilitating exports of certified halal products—especially meat and other consumables—from the U.S. to Indonesia, ensuring compliance with Indonesian halal standards, and supporting Indonesia’s food security through diversified import sources. Additionally, the agreement seeks to enhance bilateral economic growth and establish a credible halal certification system.
