East Java Vice Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak expressed optimism that Surabaya Business Matching 2025 will boost the region’s tourism industry. At the event’s opening on Wednesday (May 21) at Bumi Surabaya City Resort, Emil emphasized that business matching goes beyond networking—it’s a strategic platform for tourism players to connect directly with buyers. He highlighted tourism's dual impact, saying it “uplifts not only wallets, but also hearts,” and stressed its role in bringing happiness and economic value to communities.
Emil underlined the importance of selective, people-centered tourism, where government support is paired with strong private sector initiatives. He cited infrastructure programs like PHJB that improve access to destinations such as Mount Bromo, and shared that East Java now has over 1,300 attractions and 630 tourism villages. Based on BPS data, the province recorded 52.5 million tourist visits in Q1 2025, making it the most visited province on Java. Emil urged continued collaboration to create inclusive travel packages and impactful promotions. Meanwhile, Surabaya Business Matching organizer Sri Astuti noted this is the 10th event held in the city since 2015, and part of a 2025 tour including Jogja, Bandung, Balikpapan, Bali, Bangkok, and Jakarta. She emphasized the private sector’s commitment to tourism and economic growth, and thanked the government for its ongoing support.
