Central Java Investment Reaches IDR 21.85 Trillion, Creates Nearly 100,000 Jobs

In the first quarter of 2025, Central Java recorded a significant investment influx of Rp21.85 trillion, resulting in the employment of 97,550 workers, a 23.95% increase from the same period last year. This growth also marked a IDR4.29 trillion rise from Q1 2024. The investment was dominated by foreign direct investment (FDI), which contributed 64% (IDR14.08 trillion), while domestic investment accounted for the remaining 36% (IDR7.7 trillion). The top five sectors attracting investment were textiles, footwear, rubber and plastics, food processing, and housing/office complexes, with the textile industry leading at IDR2.66 trillion.

At a provincial investment performance evaluation in Semarang, Head of DPMPTSP Central Java, Sakina Rosellasari, highlighted the addition of over 20,000 new projects. Vice Governor Taj Yasin welcomed these achievements and stressed the importance of disciplined licensing procedures and inter-agency collaboration to ensure sustainable and inclusive development. He emphasized the need to incorporate public welfare in industrial planning, particularly the provision of worship facilities to support worker well-being. Additionally, he advocated for halal food labeling in tourism services to promote Muslim-friendly tourism. The Vice Governor also urged local governments to enforce strict building permit regulations that include requirements for public amenities. His message was clear: investment must balance economic targets with social impact to ensure benefits reach all layers of society.
