The Jakarta Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the creative economy sector through culturally driven investment. Budya Pryanto Putra, Head of Investment at DPMPTSP DKI Jakarta, emphasized that this sector not only enriches the city’s cultural identity but also plays a crucial role in supporting regional economic growth. The initiative aims to preserve local culture by making it a unique selling point (USP) of Jakarta, while also promoting MSME independence and creating new job opportunities. Alongside licensing services, the agency also provides guidance and support to entrepreneurs and investors.
Budya highlighted Jakarta’s steady position at 74th in the Global City Index 2024, noting that the "cultural experience" indicator is the only one that has improved—rising four ranks in the last five years. This upward trend reflects Jakarta’s growing emphasis on cultural appreciation and creative expression. He stressed that strengthening cultural elements is closely linked to the inclusive and dynamic growth of the creative economy. A wide range of local products, artistic expressions, and cultural activities are thriving in communities, creating a vibrant and economically valuable cultural ecosystem. Notably, about 79.5% of creative economy players in Jakarta come from the MSME sector, underscoring the vital role they play in the city’s creative landscape.
