The Sumbawa Regency Government held a Joint Regional Apparatus Forum to discuss the Initial Draft of the 2025–2029 Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD), Tuesday (20/5/2025). The activity, which took place in the Hall on the 3rd Floor of the Sumbawa Regent's Office, was a strategic step in formulating the direction of development for the next five years. The main focus is on the industrial and agro-industry sectors. The forum was officially opened by the Regent of Sumbawa, Ir. H. Syarafuddin Jarot, MP. In his remarks, the Regent of Sumbawa emphasized that the RPJMD is a strategic document that serves as a guideline for all stakeholders in implementing development. "The RPJMD is not just an administrative document, but a roadmap for regional development. If we want to realize a Superior, Advanced, and Prosperous Sumbawa, all parties must understand and use this document as a common reference," said the regent.

The forum presented Dr. Amri Rahman, an academic from the University of Mataram, as the main speaker. In his presentation, he emphasized that the direction of Sumbawa's future development will focus on strengthening the industrial and agro-industry sectors as the core of development. "Sumbawa has great potential in the agricultural, livestock, and fisheries sectors. However, in the future we cannot only rely on raw commodities. There must be downstreaming and industrialization so that the added value is felt directly by the community," explained Amri. He also highlighted the importance of support from other sectors such as the economy, natural resources, the environment, and adequate infrastructure so that industrial and agro-industry-based development can be sustainable. "All of this has the ultimate goal of improving the welfare of the Sumbawa community," he added.This forum was attended by representatives of OPD, academics, business actors, community leaders, and NGOs. The dynamic discussion is expected to perfect the substance of the RPJMD before it is officially stipulated.Through this forum, the Sumbawa Regency Government demonstrated its commitment to participatory, adaptive, and sustainable regional progress-oriented development planning.
