Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza stated that the performance and contribution of the domestic coffee industry to the country's economy continues to increase, this is based on increased exports, production, and quality. "I often receive reports that coffee and the coffee processing industry from Indonesia are increasing in terms of exports, production, and quality." he said in Jakarta. The Deputy Minister of Industry said that in 2024, for example, the realization of national processed coffee production will reach 1.04 million tons with a utilization rate of 77%. Exports of processed coffee products also recorded promising performance, namely 196.8 thousand tons with a value of USD 661.9 million or IDR 10.87 trillion. He also stated that the significant growth of coffee shops, which has almost tripled in the last three years, also reflects the great enthusiasm.
The growth trend of the Indonesian coffee market in the 2024-2029 period is projected to reach 3.61%. This condition provides a great opportunity for increasing investment, especially in the contemporary coffee industry sector and other derivative products such as flavors, syrups, and coffee candy. The Deputy Minister of Industry said, "we know that the global coffee industry competition is very tight. Therefore, do not stop innovating, accepting new technology, and continuing to learn. Currently, Indonesia is recorded as having 54 types of coffee with IG certification, which is a strength in building a national coffee brand that is competitive in the international market. The use of IG is an important instrument in the premiumization process of local processed coffee products.
