On 20 May 2025, at the 49th IPA Convention and Exhibition at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Roberto Daniels, the Managing Director of Eni Muara Bakau BV, stated that Indonesia is the primary country in the company's investment portfolio. Over the next five years, Eni plans to drill approximately 10 wells, with three of these commencing in July. According to Roberto, Eni will continue to conduct in-depth exploration to make discoveries that can contribute to Indonesia's oil and gas production.
Roberto recognises the role of luck in the success of the company's exploration projects. It is worth noting that several successful explorations are located in close proximity to Eni's facility centres. In October 2024, Eni successfully identified a prospective well, which has now received development approval and is moving into the tender phase. In addition, the necessary items have been purchased, allowing a swift progress. Furthermore, in November 2025, Eni will begin a 3D seismic acquisition campaign to explore a 10,000 square kilometre area, although the exact location has not yet been specified.
