Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono stated that the Indonesian government is opening opportunities for live cattle imports into Indonesia for investors, requiring them to partner with local farmers. At present, Indonesia continues to import meat and dairy products. In this regard, President Prabowo has instructed relevant ministries to initiate a gradual reduction in meat and dairy imports. It is targeted that, within the next five years, the arrival of 2 million live cattle has the potential to meet Indonesia's meat and dairy needs, eliminating the need for further imports. Investment opportunities include imported live cattle, cages for housing them, and profit-sharing arrangements. The Indonesian Cattle Breeders and Fatteners Association (APPSI) has been requested to serve as a facilitator between investors and farmers, as well as regional heads, to provide land suitable for cattle farming, along with cages, cage contents, and other necessary equipment. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture has committed to facilitating partnerships between investors and local farmers, including with regional leaders in Central Java.
