Toyota Indonesia's Hybrid Car Exports Rise 14.5% in Q1 2025

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) reported a 14.5% increase in hybrid car exports during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year—underscoring growing global acceptance of Indonesia’s locally produced electrified vehicles. The exported models include the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid and Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid, which are assembled at Toyota’s Karawang facilities in West Java.

From January to March 2025, Toyota exported 4,579 hybrid units, up from 3,999 in Q1 2024. The Innova Zenix continued to lead with 2,574 units, followed by 2,032 units of the Yaris Cross. Both models feature a high level of local content—above 70% for the Innova Zenix and 80% for the Yaris Cross—highlighting Indonesia’s deepening automotive manufacturing capabilities. The battery packs are assembled in Karawang Plant 1, while engines are produced at Plant 3. Toyota’s Indonesian-made hybrids are now exported to a diverse range of countries including the Philippines, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, and multiple Latin American markets like Peru, Paraguay, and Suriname. The Philippines remains the largest export market for both hybrid models. TMMIN President Director Nandi Julyanto noted that the growth in export demand outpaced that of domestic hybrid sales, signaling Indonesia’s rising competitiveness in the global electrified vehicle market.
