NTB Optimistic Exports Will Remain Resilient Amid Economic Storm

The province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is expected to maintain strong export resilience despite ongoing global economic turbulence. NTB’s key export products, especially food commodities like candlenuts and vanilla, continue to see stable demand due to their high quality and essential nature. According to the Head of Bank Indonesia NTB Representative Office, Berry Arifsyah Harahap, basic food exports remain largely unaffected by global shocks. While tuna and shrimp exports are facing pricing pressure at the fisher level, this does not significantly reduce overall export value, as demand for NTB’s food products remains high.

He noted that although U.S. market prices have fluctuated—making products more expensive for American consumers—the impact has not reduced NTB’s export volumes. The province’s food exports have proven resilient because they are essential and cannot easily be substituted. For example, NTB’s vanilla is considered among the best in quality and is difficult to replace, creating buyer dependence. Harahap emphasized that international buyers prioritize health and safety, especially for marine products, making NTB’s quality crucial. With continued trust from global markets and consistent quality, Bank Indonesia NTB remains optimistic about the province’s export performance, which spans beyond Europe and the U.S. to include countries like China and India.
