In the first quarter of 2025, Aceh experienced positive growth supported by several sectors, particularly mining and quarrying, with the highest growth rate reaching 19.02% year-on-year. According to Aceh BPS-Statistics Indonesia Head Tasdik Ilhamudin, almost all business sectors experienced positive growth in the first quarter of 2025. The transportation and trade sector recorded positive growth of 9.76%, the second-highest growth rate. Meanwhile, the categories that demonstrated contraction were the electricity and gas procurement category, which saw a decrease of -4.77%, and the construction category, which decreased by -0.11%. The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) was dominated by agriculture, accounting for 32.43% of the region's total output, followed by trade (15.52%) and government administration (8.83%). Nevertheless, these three sectors were not the primary contributors to Aceh's GRDP figures in the initial quarter of this year.
Aceh's economy grew by 4.59% (year-on-year), primarily driven by the Mining and Quarrying category, which expanded by 1.36% (year-on-year). Meanwhile, the export of goods and services was the primary driver of economic growth, contributing 11.68% to the region's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), accounting for 69.19% of the total. On a quarterly basis, Aceh recorded negative economic growth, contracting by 6.05% in the first quarter of 2025 against the fourth quarter of 2024. However, Aceh's economic growth rate has shown signs of improvement over the past four years. Meanwhile, on an annual basis, Aceh's economy grew by 4.59% (yoy) in the first quarter of 2025, with the GRDP at current prices (ADHB) reaching IDR 61.75 trillion and the GRDP at constant prices (ADHK) reaching IDR 38.38 trillion.
