Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail and Deputy Governor Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie officially launched the export of 10,000 tons of wood pellets produced by PT. Biomasa Jaya Abadi at Lalape Port, Pohuwato Regency, on May 13, 2025. The shipment, destined for Japan and South Korea, highlights the region’s growing role in renewable energy exports. With an investment value of IDR 1.52 trillion, PT. Biomasa Jaya Abadi has exported over 376,000 tons of wood pellets in 34 shipments over the past four years, generating USD 52 million (IDR 780 billion) in economic value.
Governor Gusnar emphasized the strategic role of Pohuwato in driving regional economic growth, contributing to Gorontalo’s national ranking as the fourth-highest economic growth province in Q1 2025 at 6.07%. He stressed the importance of a collaborative investment ecosystem involving government, local communities, and businesses. He also urged the company to ensure environmental sustainability by balancing tree harvesting with replanting, and called for the recruitment of local workers to maximize community impact. This initiative reflects Gorontalo’s broader efforts to strengthen its economy through sustainable and inclusive industrial development.
