Batam’s Exports Reach USD 1.49 Billion in March 2025

Electrical machinery (HS 85) remained the top export, contributing USD 2.06 billion or 45.65% of nonmigas exports. Other major contributors included ships (USD 540 million), mechanical machines (USD 503 million), iron and steel goods (USD 322 million), and cocoa products (USD 240 million). Fish and shrimp exports also showed notable growth. The United States emerged as the leading export destination, receiving USD 490 million worth of goods in March, up 40% from February. For the entire Q1, U.S.-bound exports totaled over USD 1.14 billion, followed by Singapore, Saudi Arabia, China, and Australia.

Batu Ampar Port remained Batam’s key export hub, handling USD 1.04 billion or over 40% of the city’s exports, despite a slight monthly dip. In terms of volume, it shipped 144,000 tons in March and over 462,000 tons in Q1, reflecting strong annual growth. Meanwhile, Batam’s imports stood at USD 1.31 billion, down 1.09% from the previous month. These figures highlight Batam’s pivotal role in driving Indonesia’s trade growth, particularly through its robust non-oil export sector and strategic global market access.
