Indonesia's economic outlook for 2025 remains optimistic, driven by rising domestic activity and strong contributions from the agricultural sector. According to Bank Mandiri Chief Economist Andry Asmoro, agriculture has been a key pillar of early-year growth. Although signs of economic slowdown are emerging, accelerated fiscal spending is seen as vital to sustaining momentum. Government expenditure, which lagged in early 2025, is expected to pick up in Q2, stimulating key sectors tied to public needs.
Externally, Indonesia’s export potential is expanding despite global uncertainties. Andry emphasized that membership in ASEAN and BRICS opens strategic opportunities to strengthen trade balances through access to non-traditional markets. Meanwhile, domestic demand recovery is expected to serve as a major growth driver, with GDP projected to grow by 4.93% in 2025. Overall, coordinated fiscal strategies and productive sector performance, particularly in agriculture, are poised to anchor Indonesia’s economic resilience.
