In a significant milestone for rural economic empowerment, Banyumas-based village-owned enterprise (BUMDes) Kabul Ciptaku successfully exported 18.5 tons of coconut sugar to Hungary, valued at USD 35,000 (around IDR 586.4 million). The ceremonial export launch was attended by Trade Minister Budi Santoso and Minister for Villages and Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto in Langgongsari Village, Banyumas, Central Java, on May 1, 2025. This marks the first time a BUMDes from Banyumas has entered the European market, showcasing the potential of local products to compete globally.
Minister Budi praised the achievement, highlighting Kabul Ciptaku as an inspiration for other village enterprises to explore international opportunities. This success aligns with the Ministry of Trade's goals for 2025, which include expanding export markets, strengthening domestic trade, and boosting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the “BISA Ekspor” program. Minister Yandri added that this milestone could set a positive precedent for thousands of other villages. He emphasized the importance of maintaining product quality to uphold Indonesia’s reputation abroad and called for systemic government support to help village products generate real benefits for rural communities.
