Indonesia’s automotive industry has reached a significant milestone with the launch of the Polytron G3 and G3+ electric vehicles, marking the nation’s growing capability to compete in the global EV market. Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita praised Polytron for introducing a domestically branded electric SUV, calling it strong evidence of Indonesia’s manufacturing maturity. With a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 40%, these vehicles help reduce import dependence while boosting local industry potential. The initiative also reflects a broader shift toward strengthening the national position in the global electric vehicle market.
Polytron’s entry into the four-wheeled EV segment—after success in electric motorcycles—comes on its 50th anniversary, with a debut described by the company as smart, luxurious, and liberating. The G3 series uses a 51.9 kWh LFP battery powering a 150 kW (201 hp) front-wheel drive motor, offering a range of up to 402 km (CLTC standard). Pricing is accessible, with battery subscription options starting at IDR 299 million for G3 and IDR 339 million for G3+, or full ownership packages at IDR 419 million and IDR 459 million, respectively (OTR Jabodetabek). This launch is not just a commercial success—it’s a symbolic leap for Indonesia’s sustainable mobility and local innovation.
