Government Boosts Domestic Consumption to Sustain National Economic Growth

To sustain Indonesia’s economic growth, the government is intensifying efforts to stimulate domestic consumption, which contributes 54% to the national GDP. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that this aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to maximize the country’s economic potential. Successful initiatives like Friday Mubarak and Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA) Lebaran have collectively generated over IDR 100 trillion in transactions. These collaborative programs, involving both government and private sector support, have not only increased public enthusiasm for local products but also strengthened the competitiveness of MSMEs across domestic markets.

The Friday Mubarak program, running from February 28 to March 28, 2025, and backed by 150 national retail brands, saw IDR 72.3 trillion in transactions. Meanwhile, BINA Lebaran, held across 80,000 outlets in 402 shopping centers from March 14 to 30, recorded IDR 32.7 trillion. Encouraged by this success, the government plans to expand BINA programs nationwide through upcoming events such as the Jakarta Festival, BINA Holidays, and Indonesia’s Independence Day sales. These efforts aim to evenly distribute economic benefits across regions while reinforcing consumer spending. Minister Airlangga concluded that continuing these initiatives throughout 2025 will support robust and inclusive economic growth.
