North Sulawesi continues to strengthen its position in global trade, as the Head of the Agricultural Quarantine Agency (Barantin), Sahat M. Panggabean, officially launched the export of 213.75 tons of agricultural and fishery products on April 23, 2025. Valued at IDR 13.36 billion, the shipment is heading to seven countries: the United States, Belgium, Italy, Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, and India. Speaking at Bitung Container Port, Sahat highlighted the significance of this export not only as a sign of Indonesia’s global competitiveness but also as evidence of local businesses’ ability to meet international quality, efficiency, and sustainability standards.
Key products in the shipment include coconut water concentrate (75 tons, IDR 4.83 billion), desiccated coconut (52 tons, IDR 2.83 billion), coconut chips (15 tons, IDR 330 million), nutmeg flowers (5.46 tons, IDR 1.01 billion), and canned tuna (66.28 tons, IDR 4.36 billion). Sahat emphasized the importance of traceability in global trade, noting that export destinations now require full documentation of product origins. With accredited labs and reliable quarantine certification, North Sulawesi’s exports meet these rigorous demands. This successful export reflects the strong collaboration between government and local enterprises, showcasing the region's commitment to boosting its economic footprint while maintaining high product standards.
