In a strategic meeting held on April 23, 2025, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Dony Oskaria, expressed full support for the development of Batu Ampar Port and Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam. The session, attended by BP Batam Chairman Amsakar Achmad and Deputy Chair Li Claudia Chandra, focused on turning these key assets into a logistics hub of international caliber. Dony emphasized that sustainable business models are crucial for long-term success, encouraging stakeholders to think beyond immediate results to ensure financial health and efficiency in future operations.
The expansion of Hang Nadim Airport includes Terminal 2 construction and Terminal 1 revitalization to improve passenger experience and boost tourism. Meanwhile, Batu Ampar Port is undergoing modernization to enhance infrastructure use, productivity, connectivity, and reduce logistics costs. Amsakar expressed gratitude for the ministry’s inaugural visit, calling it a morale boost for accelerating development. He stressed the importance of an entrepreneurial spirit in managing Batam’s assets and welcomed insights from the SOE ministry to strengthen the city’s economic foundation. The meeting concluded with a site visit to both facilities, reinforcing the joint commitment to transform Batam into a leading regional logistics and travel hub.
