The commitment of the North Sulawesi Provincial Government in encouraging economic growth has borne fruit. Held at the Bitung Container Port, the Head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) Sahat Manaor Pangabean, together with the Deputy Governor of North Sulawesi (Sulut) Victor Mailangkay and the Mayor of Bitung, Hengky Honandar, launched the export of plantation and fishery commodities of 213.75 tons. This export reached an economic value of IDR 13.361 billion. With export destination countries being the United States, Italy, Belgium, Russia, Saudi Arabia, India, and China.
The leading commodities exported include plantation products such as coconut water concentrate, peeled coconut, nutmeg, and processed fishery products in this case canned fish, which have gone through the quarantine process and meet international export standards. In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of North Sulawesi, Victor Mailangkay appreciated and thanked all business actors and parties who have worked together to realize this export. "This is proof that North Sulawesi is able to compete in the international market. The Provincial Government continues to encourage regional economic development, in improving the quality of local products so that they can penetrate more export destination countries," said Deputy Governor Victor Mailangkay. Meanwhile, the Head of the National Quarantine Agency, Sahat Manaor Panggabean emphasized the importance of certification and supervision of the quality of export products in order to maintain the trust of the foreign market. On that occasion, the Mayor of Bitung, Hengky Honandar stated that Bitung will continue to be developed as a gateway for eastern Indonesia's exports. It should be noted that throughout the period of January–April 2025, the total export value from North Sulawesi Province was recorded at IDR 2.14 trillion, reflecting a positive trend in the growth of the foreign trade sector.
