Banyuwangi Regency continues to show a positive trend in exporting superior products. Throughout 2024, the export value was recorded at USD 196 million. This is an increase of USD 18.2 million compared to the previous year which was USD 177.8 million. Based on data from the Banyuwangi Regency Cooperatives, Micro, and Trade Service (Diskopumdag), products from Banyuwangi have also reached markets in 80 countries spread across Asia, Africa, Europe, America, and Australia. "Alhamdulillah, Banyuwangi's total exports continue to increase every year. This is a positive trend that must be maintained," said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani, Wednesday (23/4/2025).
The exported products are diverse. Consisting of 27 superior commodities, such as ornamental fish, pumice, coral, canned fish, processed teak wood, coffee, and liquid fertilizer. One of the important achievements, said Ipuk, this year was the success in penetrating the Canadian market with canned fish products. The export value for this product reached 450 thousand US dollars at the end of the year, marking a new market expansion for Banyuwangi's fishery commodities. Despite recording an increase in exports, Banyuwangi business actors are faced with new challenges related to the planned increase in import tariffs in the United States. The central government said that the import tariff for a number of superior Indonesian products to the US could increase by up to 47%. Ipuk said that his party had established communication with local exporters, and coordinated with the East Java Trade and Industry Service and other parties to anticipate the impact of this policy. Meanwhile, the Head of the Banyuwangi Trade and Industry Service, Nanin Oktaviantie, said that currently shipments to the United States are still being carried out based on the old contract. However, there are no new contracts for 2025.
