Bandung has once again proven its manufacturing prowess as PT. Cresco successfully exported a container of high-quality sleeper sandals to Japan—a country known for its strict import standards. The symbolic export release, officiated by Deputy Mayor Erwin in the Mekar Raya Industrial Area on April 21, 2025, marks a significant moment for Bandung’s industrial revival and global trade aspirations. Erwin expressed pride in PT. Cresco’s innovation and sustainability, emphasizing that this achievement signals Bandung’s capability to compete globally through skilled human resources and top-tier products.
The City Government remains committed to nurturing a competitive industrial ecosystem by supporting SMEs with training, licensing, and incubation centers across 30 districts. PT. Cresco’s success is also expected to revitalize the once-vibrant Mekar Raya Industrial Area, now operating at a fraction of its former capacity. Despite national economic challenges, Bandung’s exports remain strong, reaching USD 92 million by March 2025, with Japan leading as a top destination at USD 8.4 million. Other key markets include the UAE, Jordan, Germany, and the US. Leading export products include metal jewelry, ready-made garments, textiles, and tea. Although rising raw material costs due to the weakened rupiah present challenges, the city's export performance continues on an upward trend, with a 2025 target of USD 326 million. The visit concluded with a factory tour, showcasing the precision and quality that make Bandung’s products internationally competitive.
