Bintan Regency celebrated a major economic milestone in 2024, recording a remarkable 8.89% growth rate—an impressive 2.75% increase from the previous year’s 6.14%. This achievement not only positions Bintan as the fastest-growing region in the Riau Islands Province but also exceeds President Prabowo’s national target of 8% economic growth. The announcement was made by Bintan’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Head, Nur Ikhlas, in a meeting with Bupati Roby Kurniawan and regional heads on April 22, 2025.
Bupati Roby expressed his gratitude and pride in the region’s progress, attributing the success to grassroots-driven programs and local government innovations that directly empower communities. However, he emphasized the importance of staying proactive, urging all officials not to become complacent but to build on this momentum. Key community-centered programs—such as financial aid for the elderly, local incentives, and multifunctional initiatives like "Gerbang Kampung"—have played a vital role in boosting inclusive growth. Roby also highlighted the importance of sustained innovation across all departments and the value of youth involvement through groups like Bintan Young Leaders (BYL), who help communicate progress and initiatives at the community level. With a strong commitment to continuous improvement, Bintan aims to maintain and surpass its current success, creating a vibrant and resilient local economy for years to come.
