To mark the 146th anniversary of Kartini Day, Bank Indonesia Central Java partnered with the Rembang Regency Government and the Provincial Government to promote economic growth through tourism and green economy initiatives. The collaboration builds on 2024 efforts and reflects a sustained commitment to developing Rembang’s tourism sector and empowering related MSMEs. This year, the synergy expanded through the Djarum Foundation’s environmental program, which supports sustainable fashion by planting natural dye-producing trees. The initiative also encourages Lasem batik artisans to adopt eco-friendly dyes, aligning economic creativity with environmental preservation.
The celebration featured various events such as a book talk, fashion and makeup competitions, and a Lasem batik gift creation contest. A fashion parade involving MSMEs and national designer Wignyo Rahadi further showcased Rembang's cultural potential. Local leaders emphasized Kartini Day as a pivotal moment to embed her values into economic progress. Rembang’s Deputy Regent, Mochamad Hanies Cholil Barro, highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder synergy in developing green tourism. Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia’s regional head, Rahmat Dwisaputra, reaffirmed support for inclusive, sustainable growth, noting the strategic use of local cultural assets like the R.A. Kartini and Nyah Lasem museums. By integrating tourism, creative MSMEs, and green initiatives, the program aims to create a powerful economic multiplier effect for Rembang.
