The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) held a bilateral meeting with several representatives of member countries of the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), one of which was the Maldives, on the sidelines of the 37th CAP-CSA meeting at the Mulia Hotel, South Jakarta, Wednesday (16/4/2025). Deputy for Industry and Investment of the Ministry of Tourism, Rizki Handayani Mustafa, said that the Maldives in the meeting hoped for cooperation in the field of human resources (HR), considering that the country really needs workers from Indonesia. "They are building around 100 more projects there and of course need human resources from Indonesia," said Kiki, his nickname, in the 37th CAP-CSA press conference. Kiki said that the Ministry of Tourism has six tourism polytechnic schools that produce 2,000 graduates per year. With this cooperation opportunity, Kiki assessed that Indonesia could send students to carry out training or internships in the Maldives. Kiki said that the Maldives is also interested in collaborating in the wellness and spa sector.
According to her, this cooperation plan can also be used as a training event for students at tourism polytechnics to work in the Maldives. On the other hand, Indonesia is also interested in collaborating in the wellness sector, especially spas. The reason is, said Kiki, Indonesia has been exporting wellness products to the Maldives for quite a long time. "We are also very rich in wellness products and indeed in the Maldives we have been exporting both products and work products for the SPA and wellness sector for quite a long time," she said. For information, Indonesia is hosting this CAP-CSA 2025 meeting, titled the 37th Joint Commission Meeting for the UN Tourism Commission CAP-CSA in Jakarta, on April 15-16th, 2025. Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri said that Indonesia has the opportunity to introduce the beauty of its culture, leading destinations, and sustainable tourism policies that continue to be developed.
