East Kalimantan's Non-Oil and Gas Exports to 13 Destination Countries Soar! Pakistan Becomes an Exciting New Market

In February 2025, the total value of East Kalimantan's non-oil and gas exports to 13 main destination countries recorded a significant increase of 9.30% compared to the previous month. This surge provides new hope for East Kalimantan's economic growth amidst the dynamics of global trade. Based on data released by the East Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the value of non-oil and gas exports to 13 main destination countries in February 2025 reached USD 1,476.04 million, up USD 125.53 million from USD 1,350.51 million in January 2025. The increase was driven by strong export performance to several of East Kalimantan's main trading partners. One interesting phenomenon is the emergence of Pakistan as a very promising export market.

In February 2025, East Kalimantan recorded a non-oil and gas export value to Pakistan of USD 48.27 million, whereas in the previous month there were no records of exports to that country," explained Head of BPS East Kalimantan Yusniar Juliana. This leap is certainly a breath of fresh air and opens up new market opportunities for East Kalimantan products. In addition to Pakistan, two of East Kalimantan's traditional trading partners also showed a significant increase. Non-oil and gas exports to India increased by USD 45.30 million or 19.61%, while exports to China also grew solidly by USD 43.30 million or 8.47%. The ASEAN region is a significant market for East Kalimantan's non-oil and gas exports. In the January-February 2025, the total value of East Kalimantan's non-oil and gas exports to ASEAN countries reached USD 740.43 million, with a role of 23.91% of total exports non-oil and gas. Meanwhile, the value of non-oil and gas exports to the European Union region was recorded at USD 11.50 million with a relatively small role, namely only 0.37% of East Kalimantan's total non-oil and gas exports. The data shows that the Asian market, especially China and ASEAN, is still the backbone of East Kalimantan's non-oil and gas exports.
