The Indonesian government together with the World Tourism Organization or UN Tourism will launch green investment guidelines for the Indonesian tourism sector this year. "Indonesia, in collaboration with UN Tourism, will also launch the Indonesian Tourism Guidelines," said Minister of Tourism (Menpar) Widiyanti Putri Wardhana at the UN Tourism CAP-CSA press conference at the Mulia Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday (15/4/2025). This was also confirmed by UN Tourism Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili. Zurab said that UN Tourism together with Indonesia will launch investment guidelines in the tourism sector. "This year, we will launch, under the leadership of Minister [Widiyanti], the investment guidelines that were just mentioned," said Zurab. He added that UN Tourism has a main goal, namely to create new jobs. According to him, tourism is the best sector in creating new jobs. For that, according to him, there are many things that can be done to create more new jobs, namely through investment.
Zurab revealed that UN Tourism itself has committed to the Philippines to open a Tourism Academy school in Cebu, Philippines. This commitment, he said, is also planned to be carried out by UN Tourism with Indonesia. However, he did not explain further about the plan. "We will do the same thing here [Indonesia], I'm sure. And we will create a good bridge between UN Tourism and the Philippines and Indonesia. And, of course, the whole world," he said. On the same occasion, the Chair of CAP UN Tourism Esperanza Christina Garcia Frasco expressed her desire to work together with friendly countries in the Asia Pacific region to ensure that these countries are able to revive tourism potential in this region, while maintaining the sustainability of existing destinations for future generations. "We look forward to many opportunities to work together in terms of tourism investment, tourism education, and the circular economy," she concluded.
