Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Eddy Soeparno, expressed strong support for the growth of the national film industry, recognizing its strategic role in boosting the country’s economy. He emphasized that Indonesia’s film sector holds significant potential for economic impact, investment opportunities, and job creation. With the right policies and government backing, the film industry could play a key role in achieving the national economic growth target of 8%.
Eddy reaffirmed the MPR's commitment to channeling the aspirations of filmmakers to relevant authorities, including advocating for meaningful policy changes that will nurture domestic film development. He highlighted ongoing collaboration with Commission X of the House of Representatives and local governments to support film as a tool for regional promotion. These efforts are also being extended through formal and informal dialogues with related ministries and stakeholders. Looking ahead, Eddy is optimistic about significant progress in the Indonesian film industry, underscoring its capacity to stimulate economic advancement and employment opportunities.
