The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) emphasizes the importance of the National Industrial Information System (SIINas) in strengthening the non-oil and gas manufacturing sector, which is expected to remain the backbone of Indonesia’s economy through 2029. According to Adie Rochmanto Pandiangan, Expert Staff for Domestic Industrial Capacity Strengthening at Kemenperin, SIINas has been operational for five years and plays a key role in supporting data needs for national industry policy. The non-oil and gas sector is projected to contribute 21.9% to the national GDP and serve as a key driver of employment, investment, and sustainable exports. In 2024, this sector grew by 4.75% and contributed 17.16% to the GDP, making it the largest contributor to Indonesia’s economic structure.
Investment in the non-oil and gas industry reached IDR 697.50 trillion in 2024, a 23.4% increase from the previous year, accounting for 40.69% of total national investment. This growth aligned with an increase in employment, from 19.29 million people in 2023 to 19.96 million in 2024. Export contributions from the sector also rose by 5.11%, from USD 186.59 billion to USD 196.54 billion. Kemenperin stressed that strengthening the sector requires accurate, real-time data to inform policy and boost global competitiveness. SIINas was developed to collect industrial data digitally, in an integrated and continuous manner, enabling stakeholders to monitor sector performance. With consistent reporting, the ministry aims to craft adaptive policies and ensure the manufacturing sector remains a key pillar of national economic growth.
