The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Maluku Province recorded an increase in the region’s export performance in February 2025. The total export value reached USD 5.98 million, marking a rise of approximately 25.52% compared to January 2025. This was announced by the Head of BPS Maluku Province, Maritje Pattiwaellapia, during the release of the Official Statistical News (BRS) in April 2025. “Maluku’s exports in February 2025 amounted to USD 5.98 million, an increase of around 25.52% from January 2025,” said Pattiwaellapia. Cumulatively, Maluku’s exports from January to February 2025 totaled USD 10.75 million, up by about 16.61% compared to the same period in the previous year.

The main export commodities from Maluku continue to come from the non-oil and gas sector, particularly fish and shrimp. These include grouper, marine fish, live ornamental fish, and frozen shrimp. “The export value in February 2025 rose by about 25.52% compared to January 2025, which stood at USD 4.77 million. The commodities remain the same,” she explained. Most of Maluku's exports in February 2025 were destined for other Asian regions, with a total value of USD 5.98 million. China was the primary destination, accounting for USD 5.56 million, followed by Hong Kong with USD 0.42 million. Notably, Maluku-origin commodities exported through ports outside the province in February 2025 also saw a significant increase, reaching USD 3.85 million — a 159% jump from January 2025. However, on a cumulative basis from January to February 2025, exports through external ports actually declined by about 9.82% compared to the same period in 2024.
