The Governor of North Sulawesi, Yulius Selvanus, stated that optimizing the management of natural resources (SDA) can drive regional economic growth. "In addition to natural resources, other factors that need to be optimized include human resources and government policies," Governor Yulius said in Manado on Wednesday. He explained that the local government is actively working to boost economic growth in line with President Prabowo’s target of reaching 8%. "North Sulawesi will certainly pursue that economic growth target," he said. The Governor also emphasized the importance of the region’s openness to tourism and investment, noting that tourist arrivals and investor participation have begun strengthening efforts to achieve higher growth.
The Governor expressed hope for strong support from civil servants, both permanent and contract-based, to work together and put in greater effort than before. "Going forward, let’s improve our performance to reach higher economic growth, in line with the national government’s 8% target," he added. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), North Sulawesi’s economy grew by 5.39% in 2024, slightly lower than the 5.48% recorded in 2023.
