East Java’s Exports Rise 6.73% in February 2025, Driven by Non-Oil and Gas Sector

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Java reported that the province’s export value in February 2025 rose by 6.73% from the previous month, increasing from USD 1.96 billion to USD 2.09 billion. This growth was largely driven by the non-oil and gas (non-migas) sector, which saw a 4.15% monthly increase and a 17.96% year-on-year increase, accounting for 96.97% of total exports. Meanwhile, oil and gas (migas) exports also surged 416.3% from January 2025, reaching USD 63.21 million, though they made up just 3.03% of East Java’s total exports for the month. Compared to February 2024, however, migas exports declined 29.04%.

In terms of commodities, Jewelry and Precious Stones (HS 71) remained the top non-oil export, with a value of USD 271.05 million, representing 13.39% of total non-oil exports—primarily shipped to Switzerland. The second-largest category was Animal/Vegetable Oils and Fats (HS 15) at USD 167.35 million, with major exports to China. Copper (HS 74) ranked third with USD 166.71 million, most of which was exported to Malaysia. For oil and gas, crude oil led the sector, contributing USD 59.69 million, or 2.86% of East Java’s total exports. These numbers reflect East Java’s solid export performance and the growing strength of its non-oil sectors in global trade.
